Titanium
is less than half the weight of steel, but it is only 60% heavier than aluminum,
but much stronger. Because of the properties of the element, titanium watches
cause fewer allergic reactions than gold or silver, and the properties provide
true saltwater corrosion-resistance - an invaluable feature for professional and
military divers including Navy Seals and Special Forces.
While discovered back in the 1700s, titanium wasn't used
for titanium watches until the 1900s, mostly due to the fact that most titanium
is found in ores, and a cost-effective process for separating out virtually pure
titanium was not developed until around 1946.
The ease of fabrication and general properties of titanium
make it an excellent choice for discerning owners of top quality watches; titanium watches provide strength and durability, all at reasonable cost and in
myriad styles.
