While many Swiss watch manufacturers have focused primarily on men, Ebel watches have always held a special appeal for both women and men. In fact, Ebel likes to state that it was founded upon the twin pillars of the masculine and the feminine united by the powerful force of love.
This should come as no surprise given Ebel's origins. Ebel Watches was founded in 1911 by a married couple, Eugene Blum and Alice Levy. Partners in business as well as life, Eugene focused on the technical aspects of watchmaking, while Alice nurtured the aesthetic appeal of Ebel watches.
Calling itself 'The Architects of Time' Ebel watch designs have always incorporated smooth lines and warm harmonies of color and texture. Even the distinctly masculine designs are sleek and flowing like a fine European sports car. Ebel watches are unmistakably identifiable and undeniably attactive.
No detail of an Ebel watch is ever neglected. In the past few years, the use of diamonds in watch designs has become more common. Unfortunately, the diamonds are often of inferior quality and might as well be a piece of glass. The diamonds set in Ebel diamond watches are stunningly beautiful, capturing and brilliantly reflecting even the tiniest bits of light. It is difficult to take your eyes off them; they will never disappoint you.
New additions to the Ebel watches family include the new Ebel Brasilia Watches collection. The collection features classic rectangular designs in solid stainless steel or 18k gold. Perhaps you've seen Ebel's advertising campaign featuring model Gisele Bundchen.
Other popular collections of Ebel ladies' watches include the Ebel Beluga Watch collection as well as the Ebel Beluga Tonneau Watch Collection. In addition the Ebel Classic Watch collection with it's classic wave pattern bracelets continues to delight new generations of Ebel customers.
Although Ebel Watches have been known in recent years more for their designs than for their mechanical movements, the industry has begun to take notice of the latest wave of Ebel's in-house movements including an automatic perpetual calendar, Ebel Caliber 288 and an automatic GMT, Ebel Caliber 240 among others.
Ebel's Caliber 139 is a particularly interesting automatic chronograph movement that displays the hours and minutes for the stopwatch on a revolving wheel in a window for the hours and in a retrograde format for the minutes. This movement can be found in serveral models of Ebel Ebellissimo watches.
Ebel's automatic movements are found among every collection of Ebel men's watches including the Ebel 1911 watch collection, a classically styled series of dress watches, and the Ebel 1911 BTR Watch Collection which is a beefed up variation on the standard Ebel 1911. If you would like to do some additional research, Ebel has put together a very nice web presentation for the 1911 BTR with detailed information for the various styles and movements. The collection launched in October of 2006, and the folks at Ebel are pretty excited about it - with good reason it would seem.
